Gibbs Law Group welcomes its Diversity Fellows and Summer Associates for 2024

We’re thrilled to introduce our outstanding slate of Diversity Fellows and Summer Associates for this year.
Each candidate was selected in a highly competitive process drawing over 150 applicants. During this ten-week paid fellowship, they’ll be working closely with Gibbs Law Group attorneys on cutting edge projects related to data privacy, consumer protection, financial fraud and more—issues that hold corporations accountable for their misconduct and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our clients.
Yusuf Al-Bazian
Yusuf is a 2L at UC Law San Francisco, where he is the President of the Muslim Law Student Association, President of the Society of the Arts, and competed on the trial team. He co-founded and serves as the Executive Development Director for the National Plaintiffs’ Law Association and spent his prior summer working on mass torts and personal injury cases at Walkup, Melodia, Kelly & Schoenberger. He is thrilled to continue discovering the bounds and possibilities of impact litigation at Gibbs Law Group. Yusuf grew up in the Bay Area and received his B.A. from UC Berkeley.
Mariana De Leon Dominguez
Mariana was born in Jalisco, Mexico and grew up in Santa Maria, CA. She received her B.A. from Harvard College and is a current 1L at Stanford Law School. At Stanford, she is a 1L representative in the Stanford Latinx Law Students Association and participates in both the Domestic Violence pro bono project and the First Generation and Low-Income Professionals group. Mariana spent the past summer in Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP’s Palo Alto office through the SEO Law Fellowship program. She is passionate about reforming the broken immigration legal system to ensure that the rights of immigrants are protected and promoted.
Dina Girmay
Dina is a 1L at Texas A&M School of Law where she is a member of the Black Law Student Association. Before starting law school, Dina worked as an immigration assistant in corporate immigration with Berry Appleman & Leiden LLP. Dina also volunteers her time to help asylum seekers fill out asylum applications and navigate the asylum process. She is passionate about immigration reform, with a particular focus on the uncertainties surrounding the asylum process. Dina grew up in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and received her B.A. in Political Science and International Relations from Yonsei University in South Korea.
Summer Harris
Summer is a 1L at UC Davis Law with aspirations of pursuing a career in civil litigation and a deep interest in international human rights law. At Davis Law, she is a member of the Journal of International Law and a counselor for the Gender and
Name Change Project. Prior to law school she worked at Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen, and Loewy LLP as a business immigration paralegal. Summer is originally from Salt Lake City, Utah and moved to the Bay Area seven years ago to earn a B.A. in political science from UC Berkeley.
Angela Ma
Angela is a 2L at Berkeley, where she co-leads the Police Accountability Board pro bono project, serves as Associate Editor for the California Law Review, and competes as a member of the Trial Team. Angela spent this past summer at the plaintiffs-side firm Erickson Kramer Osborne (EKO Law), where she worked on data privacy, sexual abuse, and workers’ rights class actions. She grew up in Shanghai, China and received her B.A. in philosophy from Reed College.
Lizbeth Yesenia Mendoza-Leon
Lizbeth is a 1L at UC Irvine School of Law. Since starting law school, she has worked with the ACLU on the Police Decertification and Use of Force Policies pro bono project and has served as a 1L representative for the Latinx Law Student Association. Prior to law school, Lizbeth conducted open-source investigations into human rights abuses and threats to health and safety. Lizbeth grew up in Winters, CA and received her B.A. in Political Science and Legal Studies from UC Berkeley.
Josephina Nimarko
Josie is a 1L at Howard University School of Law and is passionate about civil rights reform and making a meaningful impact in marginalized communities. Josie will be joining Howard University’s Civil Rights Clinic in the upcoming year and she will also serve as the Black Law Student Association Vice President. Josie was born in Ghana and grew up in New York, where she attended undergrad at the University at Buffalo and received a B.S. in Public Health and a minor in African American Studies.
