August 27, 2019
On August 27, 2019, Judge David O. Carter granted final approval to a class action settlement in the Hyundai Panoramic Sunroofs Class Action Lawsuit. The settlement provides class members with reimbursement for expenses and an extended 10-year, 120,000-mile warranty for shattered sunroof repairs, among other benefits.
Hyundai Shattering Sunroof: Lawsuit Background
In 2015, our lawyers filed a class action lawsuit alleging that panoramic sunroofs installed in certain Hyundai models spontaneously shattered, risking the safety of drivers, passengers and others on the road. The Court granted preliminary approval to the class action settlement in February 2019, and during the hearing Judge Carter noted:
“[T]his is an extraordinarily complex case and an extraordinarily creative solution.”
