Audi e-tron Battery Recall Lawsuit
Audi recalls E-Tron models due to possible high voltage batteries short circuiting, risking fire
On January 7, 2025, our firm and co-counsel Caplan Cobb filed a class action lawsuit against Audi of America and Volkswagen Group of America on behalf of consumers who purchased certain Audi E-Tron models with a battery defect that causes the batteries to lose power and potentially even short circuit.
The lawsuit alleges that the Defendants failed to disclose or adequately repair this dangerous and widespread defect in high voltage lithium-ion batteries equipped in certain Audi e-tron SUV electric vehicles, model years 2019- 2024, that have been subjected to recalls beginning in December 2023. The lawsuit seeks compensation for impacted Audi drivers.

What is the Audi e-tron Class Action Lawsuit About: Defective Batteries Could Short Circuit and Catch Fire
The alleged defect causes the electric batteries in the Audi e-tron models listed above to overheat or short circuit, increasing the risk of fire, according to communications involving the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The latest recall instructs certain e-tron owners to limit their vehicle’s charging to 80% capacity.
Impact of Battery Recall on Audi E-Tron Owners
Replacing an electric battery is estimated to cost approximately $50,000. Additionally, Audi may advise owners to only charge their vehicle batteries up to 80% of their capacity. This limitation reduces the range of miles typically available on a single charge.
Class Action Lawsuit for Same Issue in Porsche Taycans
Our auto defect attorneys have already filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of over 27,000 electric Porsche Taycan owners whose vehicles have been recalled for the same alleged defect as the Audi E-Tron. We are seeking to hold both Porsche and Audi accountable on behalf of owners who spent thousands of dollars on these allegedly defective vehicles.
We are interested in speaking with Audi E-Tron owners across the United States about their experiences with their electric cars. We want to hear about your Audi E-Tron experience and what, if any, information Audi has provided you.
