Dacthal Herbicide Long-Term Thyroid Harm Lawsuit
You May Be Entitled to Compensation
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has taken emergency action to ban the use of the pesticide DCPA (also known as Dacthal) due to its serious health risks and long-term harm to pregnant female farmworkers who give birth to children with thyroid injuries. If your child was exposed to DCPA and suffered harm, we may be able to obtain financial compensation.
Were You or Your Child Harmed by DCPA (Dacthal)?
What are the health risks of DCPA?
Exposure to DCPA during pregnancy can lead to changes in fetal thyroid hormone levels that continue to cause harm to the child after birth in the form of long-term low thyroid levels. Long-term low thyroid levels, known as hypothyroidism, require thyroid hormone supplementation with prescription drugs. If left untreated by a specialist doctor, known as an endocrinologist, long-term low thyroid levels can cause:
- Cognitive impairment
- Learning disabilities
- Birth defects, including heart defects, musculoskeletal defects, and cleft lip or palate
- Low birth weight
- Respiratory problems
- Immune system dysfunction
Who is at risk?
- Farmworkers: Those working on farms where DCPA was used may have been exposed through direct contact or inhalation
- Families of farmworkers: Family members may have been exposed through contact with contaminated clothing or equipment
