Gibbs Mura Attorneys to Present at AAJ 2025 Annual Convention

At the upcoming Annual Convention of the American Association for Justice, several partners at Gibbs Mura will share their expertise.

Sunday, July 20th will feature a CLE session on “Emerging Issues Affecting Class Actions and Pharma Litigation,” which will include a 9:05 a.m. to 9:35 a.m. segment on “How to Use Recent SCOTUS Decisions to Your Advantage.” Gibbs Mura partner Amanda Karl will discuss the Supreme Court’s October Term 2024 decisions in the area.

Also on Sunday, July 20th, partner Andre Mura will speak on “Legal Writing” for the same class action CLE session at 4:00 p.m.  

Then on Monday, July 21st, partner David Berger will present on “Damage Theories Supporting Class Certification.” This panel will run from 2:35 p.m. to 3:05 p.m. as part of a CLE session covering “Strategies and Tactics in Consumer Privacy and Data Breach Cases.” 

The AAJ Annual Convention aims to bring trial lawyers together to discuss recent developments in both trial advocacy generally and specific practice areas. It offers the opportunity to build connections and keep abreast of the latest news, events, and strategies in the field. 

About Amanda Karl

Amanda represents consumers, employees and others who have been harmed by corporations. She has prosecuted a wide range of complex cases, including product defect, failure-to-warn, wage and hour, data breach, sexual assault, and securities cases, within a variety of industries. In 2024 she was honored as a Rising Star by Law360, a highly selective award that recognizes top attorneys under the age of 40. In addition to her case achievements, Amanda has spearheaded the creation of Gibbs Mura’s Voting Rights Task Force, which seeks to identify opportunities for both attorneys and staff to promote voter engagement and maximize voter participation, and she serves on the Board of the East Bay Community Law Center.

About Andre Mura

Andre Mura represents plaintiffs in class actions and mass torts including in the areas of consumer protection, privacy, and products liability. Before joining Gibbs Mura, Andre was senior litigation counsel at the Center for Constitutional Litigation PC, where he represented plaintiffs in high-stakes appeals in state supreme courts and federal appellate courts. Andre has been honored twice with a California Lawyer Attorney of the Year Award for his litigation achievements. He is on the Board of the Impact Fund, the Civil Justice Research Initiative of Berkeley Law, a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a member of the Lawyers Committee of the National Center for State Courts, a Trustee of the National Civil Justice Institute, past Chair of the American Association for Justice’s LGBT Caucus, past Trustee of the National College of Advocacy, and a member of Williams College’s Latino/a and BiGLATA Alumni Network.

About David Berger

David Berger represents consumers in class action lawsuits with a special emphasis on data breach, privacy, and financial services litigation. With broad technical and IT expertise, David is widely regarded as a leader in data breach and privacy law and has served as court-appointed and co-lead counsel on cases within these emerging fields. He currently serves as court-appointed co-lead counsel in matters including In re: MGM Customer Data Sec. Litigation (D. Nev.); In re: Equifax, Inc. Fair Credit Reporting Act Litigation (N.D.
