Wood-Mode Terminates Employees With No Notice

Wood-Mode, a maker of customer wood cabinetry and the largest employer in Snyder County, laid off nearly 1,000 workers. Wood-Mode’s actions may violate the WARN Act, which provides protections for terminated employees. Under the WARN Act, most employers with 100 or more employees must provide notification 60 calendar days in advance of closing a plant or conducting mass layoffs. If Wood-Mode violated the WARN Act, employees may be entitled to compensation, including back pay and benefits.
