About the Prosper Data Breach Lawsuit:
Prosper Funding markets itself as a peer-to-peer lender that connects loan seekers and investors. It also offers credit cards and services existing loans made by other financial services companies. As a requirement to use Prosper’s financial services or to invest in them, consumers provided the company with their sensitive and non-public personally identifiable information (PII), according to the lawsuit. In many cases, Prosper obtained this information without the consumers’ knowledge and held onto it even after the lender-customer relationship ended.
According to Prosper, it discovered unauthorized activity on its systems on September 1, 2025, and discovered evidence that between June and August 2025, data containing personal information was obtained through queries on company databases that store customer and applicant data.

Plaintiffs seek to represent a class of all individuals in the United States whose PII was compromised in the Prosper data breach. The Plaintiff and class members currently include current and former Prosper customers whose information was compromised in the 2025 data breach.
Prosper Data Breach Lawsuit 2026 Case Status:
In December 2025, the Court consolidated all of the class action suits filed in the Northern District of California into a single proceeding.
